Siro Cugusi presents 'Chimere': A new edition exploring parallel worlds

Following the solo exhibition Chimere at the Nivola Museum in Orani, the exhibition catalog is being published by Allemandi (Turin). This work showcases Sardinian painter Siro Cugusi’s latest production (b. 1980) and is curated by Luca Cheri and Camilla Mattola.

Cugusi’s painting stands out for its refined technique and ability to evoke multiple suggestions, balancing figuration and abstraction. His works reinterpret the surrealist concept of the uncanny in an intimate way, creating liminal spaces where nothing is as it seems.

Chimere deconstructs classical painting, exploring genres like landscape, still life, nude, and portrait. Large canvases merge sacred and profane symbols, abstract forms, and gestural brushstrokes, opening windows to parallel worlds.

The book connects generations of artists at the Nivola Museum, echoing surrealist Bona de Mandiargues, whose catalog Allemandi published in 2023.
